We are tired of a patient who prescribes a drug "Waan ka daalnay bukaanka daawada qora "
We have experienced nearly three decades of ongoing conflict and natural disaster of large magnitude that have caused severe consequences across our country. Over the last quarter of a century, the Somali people have looked for a proper leader who could bring back the lost diamond of "Maandeeq”. Like an injured patient who could not find a proper doctor to treat his wound, we could not get the right leader for many years. Many leaders have instead ended up like a patient in a hospital who, instead of being treated, simply treats another patient "Bukaanka daawada qora”. In other words, we feel pain when we lose a parent, and that pain never goes away, but its effect is limited to one family. However, when we lose a good leader, the pain can seem even worse as the tragedy hits every family and every house across the country. Therefore, the lack of proper leader has created a terrible, transforming, and even excruciating life for the Somali people.
Putting the past aside, we have been extremely disappointed by how the electoral process has happened – it has not been fair, free, nor transparent. Corruption has reached into even the most remote villages. It is not a secret that you paid thousands of dollars to win these positions. There is no doubt that some of you have even sold your properties.
However, now that you have the power to transform the country, the future of all Somalis is in your hands. We are a few days away from the election of a new president and all Somali eyes are on you. You should know you are the judge and jury. You have a big responsibility on your shoulders. It is time to change gears; you will decide on our leader on behalf of the Somali people and as such, bear profound responsibility to choose a leader who will be able to bring back our lost diamond. My brothers and sisters, it is your duty to elect a leader who will help us realize the dreams of Somali mothers who wish better lives for their children. Some of their children have died of hunger while others died in the middle of oceans and deserts. Therefore, my honorable members of parliament the ball is in your court. We have awarded you a goal kick and it is your responsibility whether or not you will score a goal. We are on an edge of collapse, now it is your responsibility to drag us from the edge of the cliff or throw us further to the ocean. In other words, it is your responsibility to reform the lives of Somalis and show them the way forward. It’s your obligation to choose a leader who can break down the clan barriers, the glass ceilings, and the artificial clan boundaries created by weak and corrupted politicians. Thus, if you want to leave a good legacy draw your story to a good conclusion. If you manage it with a caution and neatness, you prevent a catastrophe, but if you fail, you will equally suffer the negative consequences. "karis xun iyadna wax ku la "
Although, I have been apprehensive about the outcome of this election, hopefully you will elect a proper leader who deserves to lead the country. "Xoriya nin gayaa ha guursado. " The man who deserves Xoriyo should marry her. In addition, our hope for this election will end many years of war, famine, starvation, harassment, humiliation, and corruption.
To conclude, we are all aware of the enormous corruption that occurred during the electoral process, but now it is time to clean yourselves up and close those horrible chapters and open new ones that will light up the country as a whole. We entrust you to our future, and hopefully you will provide us a better place to live. The voting system remains unseen and only Allah is watching you. We hope you will think only of what is good for your people and your country.
